        What this product is for

IDEAL Yellow 77 31-355 is a wax-based wire pulling lubricant supplied in a 5 gal (18.9 L) bucket for electrical conduit installations. It is used to reduce pulling friction, help protect cable jackets during installation, and support smoother pulls on longer or more demanding runs.

        Use for

Use for branch circuit, feeder, and service conductor pulls in conduit where a general-purpose pulling lubricant is needed. The creamy formula clings to cable, can be applied by hand or brush, and dries slowly to a thin non-conductive film that will not harden in the raceway under normal use.

Typical buying guidance: a 5 gal bucket is commonly chosen for larger commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential jobs where multiple pulls or repeated conduit runs are planned.

        Avoid for

Avoid using with low-density polyethylene cable jackets and semi-conducting jackets, as manufacturer sources list these as exceptions. If jacket compatibility is critical, confirm against the cable manufacturer's recommendations before use.

        Best for

Best for electricians and contractors who need a general-purpose pulling lubricant for long conduit runs, larger wire sizes, or jobs where a bucket format is more practical than small squeeze bottles. It is also useful where a lubricant that remains workable in cold storage and job site conditions is preferred.

        Installed in

Used in electrical conduit systems in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, institutional projects, and residential construction across Canada. Common applications include EMT, rigid, PVC, and other raceway systems where conductors are being pulled after conduit installation.

        Why this product exists

This product exists to lower pulling tension and reduce jacket abrasion during wire installation. Compared with dry pulling, lubricant is typically used to improve control on longer runs, bends, and higher conductor fill situations. Actual pulling performance depends on conduit layout, bend count, conductor type, fill, and site conditions.

        Compared with similar products

Compared with smaller bottles, this 5 gal (18.9 L) bucket is better suited to higher-volume work. Yellow 77 is a wax-based general-purpose formula that clings to cable and dries to a thin film, making it a common choice where installers want more staying power on the conductor during the pull.
