Clamp Meter · 1000A AC/DC True RMS · TightSight dual display · IDEAL 61-775
What this product is for
The IDEAL 61-775 is a 1000A AC/DC True RMS clamp meter for electricians, maintenance teams, and contractors who need current measurements on live conductors without breaking the circuit. It is designed for commercial and industrial testing, especially where panel space is tight or visibility is limited.
Use for
- Measuring AC/DC current up to 1000A
- Checking AC voltage up to 750V and DC voltage up to approximately 1000V
- Troubleshooting motors, feeders, panels, and adjustable speed drives
- Taking readings in confined spaces using the TightSight bottom display
- Verifying continuity, resistance, capacitance, and frequency during service work
Avoid for
- Applications requiring an IP-rated meter for wet or washdown environments
- Very small electronics work where a compact multimeter is more suitable
- Jobs that require a documented drop rating, as a drop-protection value was not confirmed from the manufacturer page reviewed
Best for
Best for commercial and industrial electricians who need a higher-amperage clamp meter with AC/DC capability, True RMS accuracy, and safer line-of-sight reading in energized equipment. The 2 in (51 mm) jaw opening is useful when working around larger conductors.
Installed in
Typically used in service panels, distribution equipment, MCCs, industrial machinery, HVAC equipment, and maintenance environments. Commonly chosen for troubleshooting branch circuits, feeders, and motor loads.
Why this product exists
This meter exists for electricians who need to read current safely in hard-to-reach locations. IDEAL's TightSight display places a second reading position at the bottom of the meter so the user can keep their head farther from the panel while taking measurements.
Compared with similar products
Compared with lower-range clamp meters, the 61-775 adds 1000A AC/DC capacity and a larger 2 in (51 mm) jaw for bigger conductors. It also includes True RMS measurement for more accurate readings on non-sinusoidal loads, which is useful around drives and other electrically noisy equipment. As a typical buying rule of thumb, True RMS meters are commonly preferred for commercial and industrial troubleshooting where waveform distortion may affect standard averaging meters. Actual readings depend on circuit conditions and proper meter use.
