NMD90 Copper Building Wire · 14/2 AWG · Blue Jacket 150 m (492 ft) · Various Mfg. NMD2C14BLUE150
14/2 AWG copper NMD90 building wire with bare bonding conductor, blue jacket, 300 V rating, and 90°C conductor temperature rating for dry or damp residential wiring in Canada. Commonly used for 15A branch circuits with #14 AWG conductors where permitted by code; actual application depends on installation conditions and local electrical code.
What this product is for
This NMD90 copper building wire is used for residential branch-circuit wiring in dry locations and concealed work in dry or damp locations. It is a 14/2 cable with two insulated 14 AWG solid copper conductors and a bare bonding conductor in a blue outer jacket.
Use for
Use for general residential wiring such as lighting and receptacle circuits where 14 AWG copper on a 15A circuit is permitted by the Canadian Electrical Code. The 150 m (492 ft) spool suits longer pulls, rough-in work, and jobs where fewer reel changes help productivity.
Avoid for
Avoid using this cable where exposed to mechanical injury, in wet locations, underground, or where a higher ampacity cable size is required. Do not use it as a substitute for armoured cable, conduit wiring, or outdoor-rated cable.
Best for
Best for electricians and contractors wiring houses, suites, and residential renovations that need 14/2 copper NMD90 in a 150 m spool. The blue jacket can also help with on-site circuit identification where colour-coded cable is preferred.
Installed in
Typically installed in wood-frame residential construction, basements, finished walls, ceilings, and other indoor dry or damp concealed spaces. Commonly pulled through bored studs and joists in detached homes, semis, and similar residential occupancies.
Why this product exists
This cable provides a CSA-compliant NMD90 option for standard residential branch wiring with a 90°C conductor rating and 300 V insulation system. A 150 m (492 ft) spool is commonly chosen when the job needs more continuous cable length and less handling than shorter coils.
Compared with similar products
Compared with 12/2 NMD90, this 14/2 cable is typically used on 15A circuits rather than 20A circuits. Compared with shorter 75 m rolls, the 150 m spool can reduce changeovers on larger rough-ins, but it is heavier to move around the site. As a rule of thumb, #14 AWG is commonly used for 15A branch circuits; always confirm breaker size, load, and code requirements before installation.
