Hole Saw · 6-1/4 in (159 mm) · Tri-Bore multi-purpose carbide teeth · IDEAL Industries 36-363
What this product is for
This 6-1/4 in (159 mm) IDEAL Tri-Bore hole saw is used to cut large-diameter openings in abrasive and mixed materials on electrical and mechanical rough-in work. It is part of the Tri-Bore multi-purpose hole saw range and is sized by IDEAL for 6 in duct applications.
Use for
Use for wood with nails, cement board, composite enclosures, ceiling tile and similar abrasive materials. It is suitable when electricians and contractors need a larger opening than a standard recessed-lighting saw, such as panel modifications, enclosure penetrations or duct-related cutouts where the material matches the manufacturer guidance.
Avoid for
Avoid using this listing as a general-purpose bi-metal hole saw for thick steel or stainless applications unless the material and setup are confirmed for the tool. Also avoid ordering it alone if you do not already have the correct Tri-Bore arbor and pilot, because the hole saw requires IDEAL arbor 35-394 and a compatible pilot bit.
Best for
Best for electricians, HVAC installers and maintenance teams cutting larger openings in abrasive board products or nail-embedded wood where carbide teeth are preferred over standard bi-metal teeth. A practical buying point is that this size is commonly selected for 6 in duct openings.
Installed in
Typically used on site in commercial fit-outs, residential renovations, service work, mechanical rooms, utility spaces and prefabricated enclosure work. Actual cut quality depends on drill torque, material support, feed pressure and pilot selection.
Why this product exists
Large-diameter cuts in cement board, composite materials and wood with embedded nails can wear out standard hole saws quickly. The Tri-Bore design uses carbide teeth, deep angled gullets for plug removal and a deep-cup format intended for these tougher cutting tasks.
Compared with similar products
Compared with a standard bi-metal hole saw, this Tri-Bore model is intended for more abrasive materials and nail-containing wood. Compared with knockout methods in cement board or composite enclosures, it is designed to produce a cleaner round opening. As typical trade guidance, carbide hole saws are often chosen when material mix is uncertain, but actual life depends on speed, pressure, backing and debris clearance.
Typical guidance only. Actual performance depends on installation conditions, material composition, drill speed and operator technique.
