Duplex BX/MC/Flex Connector · 3/8 in Trade Size to 1/2 in Knockout · Zinc Die Cast · Bridgeport Fittings DUP038
What this product is for
This duplex connector is used to secure and terminate two runs of 3/8 in trade size armoured cable or flexible metal conduit into a single 1/2 in knockout on a box or enclosure. It is commonly selected where electricians need to reduce box crowding while maintaining a mechanical connection at the entry point.
Use for
Use for AC/BX cable, MC cable, and 3/8 in flexible metal conduit where a duplex style connector is acceptable for the installation. Typical cable opening ranges published for comparable 3/8 in duplex fittings are approximately 0.44 to 0.61 in (11 to 15 mm), often covering common cable sizes from 14/2 to 10/3 depending on cable type and jacket dimensions.
Avoid for
Avoid using this connector in wet locations, direct weather exposure, or where a listed raintight or liquidtight fitting is required. Do not assume compatibility with every cable construction without confirming the actual cable outside diameter and the fitting listing.
Best for
Best for retrofit and new work where two armoured cable or flex runs need to enter one box knockout, such as junction boxes, device boxes, and small enclosures in dry indoor commercial, residential, or light industrial work.
Installed in
Installed in a standard 1/2 in trade size knockout, which corresponds to an actual hole size of approximately 7/8 in (22 mm). This style is typically used in steel boxes and enclosures in dry indoor locations.
Why this product exists
This fitting exists to let installers bring two cable or flex runs through one knockout instead of using separate entries. That can simplify layout, preserve available knockouts, and help on tighter box arrangements.
Compared with similar products
Compared with a standard single connector, a duplex connector accepts two runs through one knockout. Compared with insulated-throat or snap-in styles, this zinc die-cast duplex style is a straightforward mechanical fitting for common dry-location box terminations. Always verify whether your job calls for insulated throat, strap type, 90 degree, or straight style before ordering.
